Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 at Stuarts
Sep 11, 2014
8pm. Stuart's Opera House, Ohio University Performing Arts, and Ohio University African Studies present an evening with Seun Kuti and his band Egypt 80. Seun Kuti is the son of Fela Kuti, one of Africas greatest musicians and the originator of Afrobeat. With the same energetic and booming voice as Fela, Seun has developed his own raging rhythm, citing Chuck D, Dr. Dre and Eminem among his other musical heroes. Seun started learning to play saxophone and piano when he was 8, and first appeared on stage at 9 as the opening act with his fathers band, Egypt 80. Seun will be releasing a new album in 2014, produced by Grammy winning artist Robert Glasper. It follows up his 2011 critically acclaimed, Brian Eno produced, From Africa with Fury: Rise. On sale to the public on Friday, August 8th at Noon.
