Creative Adventures in Screen Printing

Dec 7, Dec 8, 2013
10am - 4pm, Sat/Sun. Ever wonder how they get an image onto a t-shirt Ever wanted to easily hand print multiples of a single image Screenprinting is very versatile, and can be used to print posters, cards, works of art, and t-shirts. We will begin by learning various ways to convert an image to stencil, for example by drawing, copying, or tracing. With guidance from the instructor, from there students will break their image down into two colors that they will then learn to print with water-based acrylic inks. Students will learn the basics of screenprinting, including stencil making, screen coating and exposure, screen reclaiming, troubleshooting, and of course printing and basic registration. Paper Circle will supply students with all supplies necessary. Come with an image, or several for inspiration, and leave with a small edition of your very own screenprint. Printing your image fabric/t-shirts is an option-- Just supply the shirt/s or fabric. Or even Christmas cards. You can make those too. We will have cards not envelopes for you to use if you want to make cards. Or bring your own blank cards. You can expect to print about 40. Since this is a beginner course, the final print will be two colors two stencils. Follow up courses Screenprinting II will be offered in the future to further build on the basics. The course fee covers materials, including some of Paper Circles supreme handmade papers. If needed or desired, you may bring your own papers or purchase more paper from the shop when you are there. We will have enough for you, but you may want to make more. Bring a lunch or enjoy one from some of our local restaurants and prepare to have a lovely, productive day working as printmaking artists in our sunny studio. Cost $120 includes materials. NOTE This is a 2 Day Workshop - Saturday and Sunday.
